Welcome

WELCOME TO OUR PRE-SCHOOL

Stogursey Pre-School is based at Stogursey C of E Primary School and serves Stogursey and the surrounding villages.  Our Pre-School is set up with quality resources, carefully matched to a young child's needs and developmental stages, inside and outdoors.

There is a different range of resources in each area of the Pre-school to encompass the areas of learning: Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Communication & Language, Physical Development, Mathematics, Literacy, Expressive Arts & Design and Understanding the World.

Children enjoy a range of activities and experiences which take into account their interests and individual needs, we value their achievements which develop their physical, intellectual, emotional and social abilities.

Outside we share with the school a safe, secure grassed area, School Field and the traditional playground. We regard outdoor play as an integral part of our curriculum. We aim to provide a welcoming and caring place, a beautiful stimulating environment with practitioners that are dedicated and caring to your child's development and needs.

To arrange a visit please email Julie the preschool supervisor on preschool@stogursey-qet.co.uk  or telephone the school office on 01278 732389.

Places are available for children from two years old.

WE ARE VERY PROUD to have achieved the iCan accreditation at The Early Talk Supportive Level on the 1st September 2022.  Speech and Language UK (iCan) supports children with language difficulties.  During our
accreditation they recognised that our strengths were:

1. Core staff encourage back and forth conversations and use contingent language skills to support       children’s language development.
2. The setting values each child and offers individualised support.
3. Photographs and pictures are used effectively to encourage independence and support learning.

The Early Years Pupil Premium provides a small amount of extra money to the pre-school for three and four year old children whose parents are in receipt of certain qualifying benefits or who have been adopted or are in care.  Additional information has been included regarding all funding. We use this money towards trips and new experiences.

Information and resources for parents

Children learn through play and our continuous provision provides a stimulating and rich learning environment.  We are experienced practitioners and will lead from children's interests as well as providing activities to stretch their learning.

At circle time we enjoy using the letter formation rhymes to support children's number recognition.  We also follow the Little Wandles Letters and Sounds and will work with the reception class teacher for ideas and support.  We look at the phoneme  s a t p i n   during their time at our setting which gets them ready for reception.  Take a look at the Utube clip from Little Wandles - you may find them fun to do at home.

Our priority is not whether they can write their name or they can count to 20 what is more important is that our children want to learn, that they are inquisitive, they ask questions, they take turns, they listen, they are able to hold a pencil, they make friends, they love stories they sing songs, they are little researchers and investigators, they understand their emotions and can self regulate, they care for themselves and for others, they are able to put their shoes on and wash their hands - all of these things are what's really important at pre -school which will help them achieve when they get to school!
